20% OFF - PAUL FOX 4TH FG, 334TH FS -PART 1

BE SURE TO SEE PART 2, 3 & 4 FOR MORE ON THE PAUL FOX COLLECTION; MR. TETTLEY'S TENANTS, BOTH BOOKS TITLED, "WAR EAGLES" ALSO FLAK MAP'S, B&W SQUADRON PHOTOS, TRAINING CAMP BOOKLETS AND SO MUCH MORE!!

THIS IS THE MOST AMAZING COLLECTION OF 4TH FIGHTER GROUP, 334TH FIGHTER SQUADRON MEMROBILIA YOU WILL EVER HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO OWN & SHARE IN THE HISTORY OF ONE OF THE MOST FAMOUS OF ALL WWII FIGHTER GROUPS.

THE COLLECTION YOU ARE ABOUT TO SEE CAME FROM AN ESTATE SALE IN MEDIA, PENNSILVANIA. S/SGT. PAUL G. FOX WAS A CREW CHIEF FOR THE 334TH FIGHTER SQUADRON OF THE 4TH FIGHTER GROUP. IF YOU HAVE THE SOFTCOVER BOOK "THE DEBDEN EAGLES" 4TH FIGHTER GROUP IN WORLD WAR II" BY GARRY L. FRY (I HAVE THIS BOOK LISTED FOR SALE) YOU WILL FIND TWO PICTURES OF PAUL FOX ON PAGE 24, POSING WITH ACE STEVE PISANOS & WITH OTHER 334TH CREW CHIEFS, AND THROUGHOUT THE BOOK PAUL FOX IS PICTURED.

PAUL FOX IS STANDING TO THE RIGHT OF ACE STEVE PISANOS, UNDER THE PROP HUB.

BELOW ARE ADDITONAL PICTURES OF S/SGT PAUL G. FOX AS A CIVILIAN AND IN THE SERVICE.

S/SGT PAUL FOX WAS A SMART GENTLEMAN. HE HAD THE FORESIGHT TO DOCUMENT HISTORY AS IT UNFOLDED. IN HIS COLLECTION HE HAD PURCHASED A FEW BOOKS, ONE BEING "MR. TETTLEY'S TENANTS" WHICH IS IN PERFECT CONDITION. PAUL G. FOX SIGNED ALL HIS BOOK'S.

S/SGT FOX'S SMARTEST MOVE WAS HIS PURCHASE OF THE 1ST EDITION 1943 PRINTED IN GREAT BRITAIN AT THE WINDMILL PRESS KINGSWOOD, SURREY "WAR EAGLES,  THE STORY OF THE EAGLE SQUADRON" BY JAMES SAXON CHILDERS. BETWEEN THE END OF 1943 AND INTO 1944 S/SGT FOX TOOK THIS BOOK AROUND AND HAD 32 PILOT'S AND ACE'S SIGNED THE BOOK. NO WHERE WILL YOU EVER FIND ALL THESE SIGNATURES TOGETHER IN ONE BOOK, OF WHICH 12 ARE ACE'S (9 OF THE 12 THAT I KNOW OF ARE DECEASED) , 6 OF THE PILOTS/ACE'S WERE KILLED IN ACTION AND 2 DIED IN FLYING ACCIDENTS.

ON JULY 24, 1978 S/SGT PAUL G. "TONY" FOX PASSED AWAY. HE LEFT THIS LEGACY OF BOOKS, PICTURES, FLAK MAPS, MAGAZINES, AND LITRATURE FROM TRAINING CAMPS WHERE HE HAD TRAINED AS A CHIEF MECHANIC. "TONY" COLLECTED AND SAVED THESE ITEMS FOR OTHERS THAT HAVE A PASSION LIKE HIM FOR THE  4TH FG,  334TH FS.

THIS IS A SOFTCOVER BOOK THAT DOES NOT HAVE PAUL FOX'S NAME IN IT. I WAS TOLD THAT RODENTS HAD CHEWED UP THE BOTTOM RIGHT CORNER WHILE IT HAD BEEN STORED IN THE ATTIC. THERE ARE A FEW WORDS THAT ARE MISSING FROM THE CHEWED PAGES BUT IT IS NOT HARD TO FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY ARE.    THE BOOK IS "FIGHTERS UP" BY ERIC FRIEDHEIM & SAMUEL W. TAYLOR, EDITED BY ARTHUR GORDON. FIRST PUBLISHED IN 1944 BY NICHOLSON & WATSON IN LONDON & PUBLISHED BY LOVE & MALCOMSON, LTD., LONDON & REDHILL. ON PAGE BEHIND CONTENTS & ON THE VERY BACK IT READS,  ALL ROYALTIES ON THIS BOOK ARE BEING DEVOTED TO THE AIR FORCES' AID SOCIETY. $25.00SOLD

BELOW IS THE HISTORY OF THIS STAMP

NATIONAL DEFENSE STAMPS-ISSUE OF 1940

This series of postage stamps, temporarily replacing the regular issues, was provided to create a general consciousness of the existing threat to our security and focus attention upon the necessity for developing an adequate national defense.

The dimensions of these stamps are 75/100 by 87/100 inch, arranged vertically. They are printed in the regulation colors for these denominations by the rotary process and issued in sheets of 100.

The 3-cent stamp has for the central design an uplifted torch symbolizing enlightenment, above which, arranged in two lines, are the words "Security Education Conservation Health" in dark Gothic. Other than the change in the denomination numeral, the remaining wording on the stamp conforms to that on the 2-cent stamp.

The stamps were first placed on sale in the Washington, D.C., post office on October 16, 1940
